A registered sex offender in South Carolina is getting a new sentence on a federal gun charge. Court documents show Kenneth Glenn Hinson is scheduled to have a sentencing hearing on Tuesday in Florence.
Hinson was arrested in 2006 and charged with raping two girls in an underground room behind his Darlington County home. Hinson was found not guilty, but federal authorities immediately charged him with weapons possession since Hinson had a gun on him when he was arrested.
Hinson has prior convictions on drug, assault and rape charges.
Hinson was convicted and sentenced to 25 years in prison. In February, the 4th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals granted his request for a new sentence, saying the judge shouldn't have given Hinson more than 10 years.
