Hope Blackley was named the new Spartanburg County Clerk of Court Friday afternoon.
Governor Mark Sanford made the announcement at 12:30pm Friday at the Spartanburg County Courthouse.
Blackley replaces Marc Kitchens, who resigned in early February after he was charged with a drug crime involving theft of evidence from a locker at the courthouse.
Blackley is a Spartanburg county native. She was one of seven finalists for the job that were determined by the Spartanburg County delegation.
That list was given to the governor to select a replacement.
Blackley has worked for Sanford since 2004 after working previously for 7th Circuit Solicitor Trey Gowdy as a victims' advocate according to the Spartanburg Herald Journal.
