A Boiling Springs family can breathe a little easier since Phyllis Lucille Adcock, a 79-year-old diabetic with dementia, was found Tuesday after being missing for two days.
Adcock disappeared on Sunday afternoon.
A report was filed with the Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office, who issued missing posters to the media and tracked Adcock’s cell phone pings to try and find her.
The office also issued posters to surrounding law enforcement agencies because Adcock’s family believed she was headed to the Etowah area of Henderson County, where she used to live.
At about 4 p.m. Tuesday, the Sheriff’s Office said, Landrum Police Officer Dennis Brown saw a vehicle matching the description of the one on the missing poster.
A woman who looked like Adcock was driving. Adcock, Spartanburg deputies reported, parked at the Southside Smokehouse BBQ restaurant at 726 Howard Street. Brown found Adcock inside.
A statement issued by the Sheriff’s Office said that Adcock was in good health and being reunited with her family.
“Our thanks go out to Officer Brown who had received the missing person poster on Mrs. Adcock and used that information to locate her,” Tony Ivey, public information officer with the Sheriff’s Office said.
