A Union man is charged with property damage after police say he damaged a hospital room where he was told smoking wasn't allowed.
Robert David Gregory, 41, of Union is charged with malicious damage according to a Union Public Safety booking report.
Police were called to Wallace Thomson Hospital on West South Street at 5:40 a.m. Tuesday. A security guard at the hospital says Gregory had been advised he couldn't smoke in his room, but she was told Gregory came down a hall on the third floor with blood coming from his arm.
Gregory bypassed the officer and left through an emergency exit according to the incident report.
The officer reported a mirror had been pulled down from a wall along with a dry erase board.
Gregory was later found at his home on Spring Street in Union where he was charged and arrested.
The officer says the bleeding to his arm had stopped at the time of the arrest.
