Deputies in Spartanburg County are on the lookout for a robber they say is armed and dangerous.
The Spartanburg County Sheriff's Office says 42-year-old Allen Christopher Poteat attempted to rob the MM Food Mart and Gas on 106 Sha Lane in Spartaburg County around 2:26pm, Sunday.
When deputies got there, they say a man, wearing a gray shirt, and blue jeans entered the store and approached the counter. The suspect had his hand in his pocket and pointed it toward the clerk to indicate he had a weapon. He then demanded the clerk give him all the money in the register. The clerk refused and asked the suspect to show her the weapon. The suspect made one more demand for the money then took off without getting any money. Deputies were told the suspect left driving a white 1995 Oldsmobile 88.
At 2:36pm, Deputies were called to the Hot Spot located at 375 Battleground Road in Spartanburg County. When they got there, deputies learned that a man wearing a gray shirt and blue jeans entered the store, took a pair of sunglasses from a display rack and approached the counter. The suspect had his hand under his shirt making it appear he had a gun. He demanded the clerk give him all the money in the register. When the clerk opened the register, the suspect grabbed money and took off.
The suspect left the scene driving a white 1995 Oldsmobile 88, with four doors, with South Carolina license plate BJC 650.
A weapon was never seen in either incident.
Deputies believe the suspect in both incidents is 42-year-old Poteat, of Chesnee.
