A man suspected of robbing 10 banks in seven states, including two in Henderson County, to support his drug addiction reached a plea agreement in three of his seven pending cases. He faces the possibility of life in prison.
Chad Earl Schaffner was originally charged in seven states but had his cases consolidated in federal court in Tennessee.
In his plea agreements, Schaffner admits to bank robberies in Fletcher, Hendersonville, Forest Acres, S.C., Mount Pleasant, S.C., Myrtle Beach, S.C., Jefferson City, Tenn., and Morristown, Tenn.
