Greenville police are investigating a dog attack that happened Monday near Moultrie Street off Faris Road in Greenville.

Three pit bulls bit Al Hammer in the hands and leg while he was taking his daily walk down the road. The wounds on his hands required stitches. He was also bitten on the thigh.

The dogs were well-groomed and did not appear to be strays, Hammer said.

He wants anyone who may know the dogs to come forward so officials can determine if they have rabies or not. Hammer is trying to avoid treatment if he can.

Police say they have not caught the dogs or identified their owners.
