Thousands came out creating the first and longest ever Google people-powered human chain, Saturday night in Greenville.
The event is called Google on Main, local people launched the massive grassroots effort trying to nab Google's attention. On Monday night the Greenville City Council plans to vote on a first reading of a resolution that would designate a point person to work with Google on the high speed internet effort.
In Greenville Saturday night, 2000 Volunteers spelled out the word "Google" by standing in formation along Main Street while spinning glow sticks in the air.
Organizers documented the stunt from the air.
Even TIME Magazine was flying overhead to capture the amazing sight.
Aside from the thousands that came out to take part, even more came out to take it all in.
"I though it was really cool. It was awesome to watch it. I thought it was great that so many people came out and gave their support. I thought it was really cool everyone just got so involved in it and made such a great effort to get them to come," said Grace Compton.
March 26th is deadline for city to compete for the city wide broadband courtesy of internet giant Google.
They'll make a decision sometime after that.
