Ladies we know you want to find the very best deals on your prom dresses so we started our day at the Junior League of Greenville's "Nearly New Shop" on Greenacre Road. They told us last weekend they put out dozens of dresses ranging from $15 to $75. Junior League volunteer Brantley Goforth showed us what they had to complete the outfit.
"We have all kinds of accessories, a lot of pearl jewelry at great prices some of them even $1," Goforth said. "We have hair clips and $3 earrings. We have alot to choose from."
You can also find great deals at consignment shops. We visited Labels Designer Consignments on Augusta Street. they told us their formal dresses range from $59.99 to $199 and many have never been worn.
"A lot of the things are brand new," said Labels' Kathy DeGarmo. "Probably a third of the merchandice still has tags on it when we get it."
We know a lot of teens insist on finding a new dress so we stopped by The Castle in Spartanburg. The sell bridal dresses and formal gowns. To find the best deals ask to see their discount dresses.
"A lot of people don't know we have the discount dresses and they walk in and they automatically are like we can't afford this," said owner Christy Conn.
Conn showed us several racks of dresses with deep discounts. She said the dresses on those racks may be up to two years old but never worn. She pointed out a sequined light blue dress that was discounted to $77 from an original price of $308.
But if that's not cheap enough you can always check out your local Goodwill Store. They have formal dresses starting as low as $10.25.
"Seventeen" magazine says there are other ways to save on prom dresses:
-Pre-shop your favorite retailers on their sites to compare prices before you make the trip to the mall
-Go short! Less fabrics means a smaller price tag and short cocktail dresses are very big right now
-Forgo embellishments like sparkle, rhinestones and feathers which will keep the price down
-DIY or alter last year's dress. By adding a ribbon belt, making a long dress shorter or even adding tulle underneath (to change the shape) you'll look like you have a whole new dress!
