A woman was seriously injured after she fell off the top of a waterfall at Caesar's Head State Park in Greenville County Thursday afternoon.
The 25-year old woman rom Ninety Six, was among a group of six people who were hiking at the top of the waterfall when they stepped out to a take a picture. Riverfalls Fire Department Chief David Embry said that the woman slipped and fell 100 feet down and landed on one of the rocks at the bottom of the falls.
Riverfalls Firefighters and Rescue workers, along with rescue workers from two other local fire departments, managed to reach the woman and take her down Persimmon Ridge Road to Geer Highway and to a MedTrans helicopter waiting nearby. The woman was transported to Greenville Memorial Hospital with what are described as "severe" head injuries and several broken bones.
