Bond was denied after a kidnapping suspect was returned to Clemson to face a judge Tuesday.
Jesus Lozada Aldana, accused of kidnapping a 12-year-old girl, was transported from Atlanta to Clemson Wednesday morning after he waived his extradition in Atlanta, according to Clemson Police Chief Jimmy Dixon.
Police say Aldana kidnapped a girl at a CVS pharmacy in Clemson.
The girl was put in bed Nov. 15 at 8 p.m., Dixon says. She snuck out of the house with her older sister.
A friend of the girl told police they noticed someone following them on their way home so they ran to a CVS pharmacy about a mile from the girl’s house off Creekside Drive.
An AMBER alert was issued for the girl and Aldana about two days after she was reported missing. Dixon said the AMBER alert wasn’t issued sooner because there wasn’t enough evidence to.
Aldana, who sometimes uses ‘Lozada’ as his last name, was arrested last Friday by FBI agents in a suburb of Atlanta after someone spotted his car.
Agents say there is evidence he removed the tag from his car and backed it up to the house to try and avoid recognition.
Dixon said the girl was found “clean, healthy but mentally confused.”
An officer interviewed the girl briefly.
“Her first question was where is my father," Dixon says.
Police say they are looking into additional charges against Aldana. Federal kidnapping charges could be pursued by the FBI and US Attorney.
Dixon said after the child was returned home the first concern right now is the girl's well being.
“She has been reunited with her father and older sister, and that's where she needs to be right now,” Dixon said.
