BMW manufacturing is looking to fill 500 more positions through the MAU staffing agency and they are holding a job fair Thursday to try and find the right employees.
MAU tells us they have once again been hired by BMW to hire 500 production associates and logistics associates.
We found out that the production associates will be required to drive a fork lift, which means getting your license ahead of time gives you an advantage.
MTT instructor Jeremiah Hall at Spartanburg Community College says, “any type of certification you can add to your resume that says you have had that training in the past, employers are confident they can re-train you."
Spartanburg Community College offers an open enrollment forklift driving course every month, on a Friday.
It takes about 4 hours and costs you just over 100 bucks.
"We basically teach the basic maneuvers of the forklift, the basic structures of the forklift and types... We teach about forklift safety," says Hall.
Monica Snipes, a business services consultant with One Stop Spartanburg also suggests bringing an updated resume with you and asking yourself these questions before you walk into an interview.
Snipes says you should ask, "do you know the job description? Do you know what hours they are looking for and what the salary is going to be and are you prepared? Are you available?"
We also found out that Greenville Tech offers forklift driving classes.
