September 13th Update:
SC mother to request bond in deaths of 2 sons
ORANGEBURG, S.C. (AP) - A South Carolina woman accused of killing her two young sons is expected to ask a judge to let her out of jail before her trial.
Attorneys for 29-year-old Shaquan Duley are expected to ask a judge to set bond during a hearing Monday in Orangeburg. Divers pulled the bodies of 2-year-old Devean Duley and 18-month-old Ja'van Duley from the North Edisto River last month. Duley was charged with two counts of murder after authorities say she confessed to smothering the boys, strapping them into their car seats then rolling her car into the river.
Investigators said Duley acted after a fight with her own mother, who Duley said badgered her about her failures as a parent. Hundreds packed a funeral service for the boys several days after their deaths.

August 23rd Update 5:15 a.m.
A friend of the South Carolina mother charged with killing her children said she fought with the children's grandmother over who would give the youngest child a bath hours before they were killed.
Chea Phelps told The State of Columbia that Shaquan Duley called her crying on Aug. 15, saying she was leaving the home she shared with her mother because "she was fed up."
Authorities said hours later Duley took her 2-year-old and 18-month-old sons to an Orangeburg motel, suffocated them, then strapped their bodies into their car seats the next morning and let the vehicle roll into the North Edisto River.
Duley is charged with two counts of murder and is awaiting a bond hearing. Her attorney has said there is more to what happened than investigators have reported.
