The Spartanburg Herald Journal reports that plaintiffs in a lawsuit about a religious class in Spartanburg District 7 will dispute a ruling.
On April 5, the paper says, a judge ruled allowing credits for student participating in an off-campus Bible education course.
The course is taught by Spartanburg County Bible Education in School Time and is held at a church next door to the Spartanburg High, the Herald Journal says.
Parents Robert Moss and Ellen Tillett filed a lawsuit against the district, saying the course violated the separation of church and state.
The judge ruled that the district’s policy is in compliance with the establishment clause of the First Amendment.
District 7 told the paper they had no comment on the ruling.
