There's no quicker way to lose an appetite than seeing a string of ants parading down your kitchen counter.
It's something a lot of us are dealing with judging from the stories we've seen on Facebook... One viewer writes "every morning ants all over kitchen sink..hate it..spray, but they return everyday this week !! Help"
7 On Your Side called the experts at Walker Pest Management.
"We definitely have seen a pick up in the phone calls the last few weeks," said Caleb Walker.
He tells us the dry summer followed by recent rain is sending bugs inside.
He says get that calk and hit the windows, doors and counter tops. And while you're at it a little foam insulator behind the sockets and metal mesh around your piping is key to *prevention.
Clean counter tops and sinks are also a must.
But when it comes to conquering ant invasion, Walker says a small investment in bate stations or gels can go a long way.
"I actually prefer the liquid and especially the gel bates that are available."
Walker says they last longer and the ants really seem to respond to them.
Bug experts say if you're in a jam, company's coming over and you just found a line of ants, look no further than the cleaning cabinet. A little rubbing alcohol or ammonia product, will send those ants marching.
"It will help eliminate those pheromone trails and disrupt the signals that the ants are sending to one another where the food and where the water is located," said Walker.
But Walker adds, that is just a quick fix.
If the problem persists, or if you have more tricky pests like roaches, that's when it's time to call the exterminator.
Unless you don't mind sharing your home with thousands of house guests.
