A driver is under arrest after a crash that killed a pedestrian in Spartanburg County. The South Carolina Highway Patrol says he never stopped. The accident happened about 9:36 p.m. Thursday on SC-9 near Woodcreek Drive in Boiling Springs. Troopers say an SUV was traveling on SC-9 when it hit two people walking in the median. Coroner Rusty Clevenger says 47-year-old Calvin Ralph Gilbert of 173 McDowell Road in Inman died. Troopers say he was thrown into the northbound lane and struck again by a pickup truck. An autopsy and toxicology are scheduled in this case. The other person who was hit was taken to the hospital. SCHP said the driver of the SUV, 45-year-old Richard Crocker left the scene. He is under arrest in the Spartanburg County Detention Center on a charges of Hit and Run Resulting in Death and No Proof of Insurance.
