The driver of a 2000 Mercury Sable died early Monday morning after the car ran off the road and hit multiple trees.
The Highway Patrol reports the car went airborne during the wreck at Highway 418 and Berry Glen Road, just 8 miles south of Simpsonville.
The driver was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Greenville County Deputy Coroner says the victim was identified as Carissa Jo Weddle, 20, of Kingstree. The Clemson student was on her way back to school after visiting her mother over the weekend.
She was not wearing a seatbelt.
