So many cell phones, so many plans...
It's enough to make your head ring. But If there's one thing customers can agree on, it's this:
"It's a lot better than it used to be," said T-Mobile customer, Winn Barrett.
More costumer friendly rules spurred on by competition have allowed Barrett to go off contract. He still gets unlimited talk, text and web for 50 dollars a month.
"Yeah, so it really favors the consumer," said Barrett.
Jessica Allen has the same coverage for 45 dollars with Page Plus, a huge savings over her prior plan.
"I mean I'm saving like, what, almost $35 a month. That's good, that's a couple packs of diapers.
And Wade Gist likes his Boost Mobile's plan because he gets $5 off his bill every 6 months. After 2 years, he's reached the bottom limit and only pays $35 a month.
"At least the company, it appreciates you so they give you something back," said Gist.
Now with all the low cost options some of the big name brands are starting to get the message. Offering deep discounts of their own.
AT&T is rolling out a $50 no-contract cell plan, hoping to lure the price conscious costumer. The plan does not include web access but it marks a new strategy for the big name provider.
Verizon is also testing out a new sub-brand called Unleashed. It offers unlimited calling, texting and web for $50. But the company is holding off on a nationwide release so it's not available in all markets (including SC and NC).
If you're confused, sites on the internet like MyRatePlan and BillShrink can help you compare plans.
The take home message, shop around because the deals are out there.
