A group of patients at the Shriners Children's Hospital in Greenville picked up a tennis racket for the first time Saturday.
The hospital hosted its First Volley Adaptive Tennis Clinic at Furman Univeristy. It allows children with amputations and other physical challenges the chance to learn and play the game of tennis. Organizers say its part of a bigger mission of getting people active.
"It's their game,” said Robin Burton, Executive Director of the Orthotics and Prosthetics Assistance Fund. “It's there for the choosing. They really need to get active, get involved, get moving, and get out and have some fun."
The Greenville County Recreation District is among the organizations that made the clinic possible.
