USPS Hopes To Hire People In The Upstate

»  Comments | Post a Comment

The United States Postal Service is now hiring in the Upstate and the pay is good. They're looking to fill some rural carrier positions all over the palmetto state.

They say the need is urgent in the Spartanburg area.

Rachel Harling is like many people these days, looking for work that is certainly hard to come by.

“It's been terrible. It's been awful,” said Harling. “I want a job. I want something that I can stick with, a career, and it doesn't like it's getting better.”

So when she heard the news that the Postal Service is delivering jobs to the area, she headed straight to her computer to apply. The only problem is even for these rural carrier jobs, people have to apply online.

"There's no internet service here, unless you have satellite,” explained Harling. “So I have to use my phone as a wireless router and it's pretty slow, it's kind of odd, but it's okay.”

The Postal Service is looking for a few determined workers like Harling.

Harry Spratlin, Communications Coordinator for the Greater South Carolina District, says they are in desperate need of people in a few areas of the state. Spartanburg is one of them.

“The postal service adds 3 quarters of a million new delivery points to their network every year because of population growth,” explained Spratlin, “and because of that, we're adding new delivery employees all the time.”

The best part is the pay of $19.45 per hour, although these positions are just for fill ins and part time work, when the other carriers are on vacation.

However, don't let that keep you from applying says Erick Kendall.

“I love it, this is the best job I’ve ever had in my life,” said Kendall.

He is one of the lucky ones who has this job already.

"It's not stressful for me. I love it,” he said. “The pay's great. That is probably the best thing I like about it."

Now even more jobs like his are signed, sealed, and will soon be delivered to the Upstate, and hopefully to people like Harling.

"It's a perfect opportunity for me," she explained.

APPLY FOR THE JOB:

If you’d like to apply for one of these jobs, head to the link below. Once on that page, click “search jobs online” in the box labeled “Search Jobs and Apply Online.”

Once that page pops up, use ONLY the search criteria “South Carolina.” For some reason, if you search for jobs in Spartanburg, they do not show up, so only search under the entire state to see the positions available as rural carrier associates.

You have to apply online for the jobs.
