A missing woman was found alive in a storage shed near her Inman home. The homeowner spotted her foot hanging out of the door of the shed and alerted authorities around 1pm after a reverse 911 call.
Shirley Ballenger, 77, was reported missing from her home at 12 Clover Street around 5:00 a.m. Wednesday. She’s believed to have walked away from the home sometime between 10:00 p.m. Monday and 3:00 a.m. Tuesday.
Ballenger shares the home with her adult son and suffers from Alzheimer’s.
Teams from the Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office K-9 Unit and the Search and Rescue Dog Association plus the SCSO helicopter spent the morning searching the area.
An ambulance is now transporting Ballenger to the hospital.
Deputies say they believe the woman will be OK.
Ballenger told the neighbor who found here that she was trying to get to another neighbor’s home that was next door to 5 Clover Street.
