Three Black Friday shoppers were targets of an armed robbery and one was shot in the leg while in the parking lot of a restaurant outside a Myrtle Beach Walmart at 1:12 a.m.
The shooting victim, a 55-year-old woman, was taken to Grand Strand Regional Medical Center, Capt. David Knipes, Myrtle Beach Police Department, said.
The three told police that they left the store and walked to their car parked at a nearby Japanese restaurant.
While the 55-year-old woman and a 25-year-old man stood at the car's open trunk, the third shopper, a 58-year-old woman, got into the driver's seat, heard screaming from the back of the car, head a man's voice demand one of the woman's purses and then heard a gunshot, according to the police report.
The driver then saw a man approach the front of the car and she grabbed a gun she had in the car's console and pointed it at that man, who ran.
The suspect who demanded the purse didn't immediately run so the woman fired "approx. 2-3 warning shots into the air and suspect 1 ran off," according to the report.
Based on the shoppers' descriptions along with those of nearby witnesses police issued a BOLO (be on the lookout) for two black men, slim build, 5'7" to 5'10" -- one in a black hoodie and dark pants and the second in a red-orange or cream sweatshirt.
One was last seen running through the Walmart parking lot and the second towards through the woods toward Grissom Parkway, according to the report.
The report indicates one of the suspects escaped with the woman's purse valued at $40.
