A man is behind bars in Greenville after being accused of domestic violence and robbing and carjacking a victim before a standoff with SWAT officers.
David Eugene Springs, 40, is charged with criminal domestic violence third degree, burglary second degree, strong armed robbery and grand larceny.
The sheriff’s office says deputies were called to a home on Old Buncombe Road after getting a 911 call about a domestic dispute. The victim said Spring broke into the home and made threats and left before officers arrived.
Deputies were then called to a reported robbery on Poinsett Highway after someone gave Springs a ride. Springs ordered the victim to stop at a Wilco store to take money from an ATM there. Springs got the cash and stole the victim’s Honda Accord.
GCSO investigators tracked Springs down at a home on Appaloosa Drive. Springs wouldn’t leave the home and claimed he had a firearm. The homeowner refused to leave as well.
SWAT officers moved in and took Springs out of the house. Deputies say no SWAT team members or Springs were injured.
