First responders, Law Enforcement, and fire Services of Spartanburg County, SC hosted a 10 year anniversary tribute to the brave men and woman who died on Sept. 11th and to our United states military who continued to fight the war on terror today.
This 10th anniversary tribute was held at Gibbs Stadium on the campus of Wofford College in Downtown Spartanburg, SC. The memorial ceremony began at 7 PM.
The memorial included patriotic songs played by the Greenville County Bag Pipe Band along with the U.S. Marine Corps Silent Drill Team and a helicopter flyover.
The American Flag was raised in between two fire engines and 50 other flags representing each of the 50 state were carried by service members.
New York CIty firefighter Jordan Liflander was the guest speaker and was there to honor his fellow first responders who died ten years ago.
Community members said they came out to remember those who have fallen and wanted to give thanks for their sacrifice.
A fly over by Spartanburg Regional One helicopter and three other helicopters from the Upstate left the crowd in awe and a wreath laying ceremony was performed in rememberance.
