A Walhalla High School student was injured Thursday morning when he was hit by a car.
Shannon Gibson with the Oconee County School District says a tenth grade student was struck as he was walking along Pickens Highway.
Gibson says the accident happened at the red light at the exit for the high school which is located on Razorback Lane.
Gibson says the student was taken to the hospital, but his injuries do not appear to be life-threatening.
Walhalla Police say Timothy Wirtz, 29, was driving the car. Officers say Wirtz stopped and helped the student after the accident.
WPD officials say they don’t know if he’ll be charged.
