A young girl was killed Thursday afternoon after being struck by a SUV in Pickens County.

Lance Cpl. Billy Elder of the South Carolina Highway Patrol said that the wreck happened at 4:20 p.m. on Odell Street in Liberty.

According to Elder, 42-year-old Amanda Thomas was driving a 2008 Honda SUV south on Odell Street when it struck a seven year old girl, identified by Pickens County Coroner Kandy Kelley as Emma Elizabeth Boughman. Kelley said that Boughman, who lived on Odell Street, was riding her scooter across the street when she was struck by the SUV. She was transported to Greenville Memorial Hospital where she died at 5:48 Thursday night.

Emma Boughman is the daughter of Liberty City Councilman Eric Boughman.
