A bicyclist was struck and killed as he tried to cross a busy road in Greenville County.
The accident happened at 6:30 Thursday night on Highway 183 at Old Buncombe Road.
Lance Cpl. Billy Elder of the South Carolina Highway Patrol said that a 2000 Cadillac driven by 46-year old Richard Smith, of Greenville, was going north on Highway 183 when he struck a bicyclist who was going east and trying to cross the road. The bicyclist, identified by Greenville County Coroner's Office investigator Kent Dill as 70-year old James Premmer Frazier, also of Greenville, was transported to Greenville Memorial Hospital where he later died.
Elder said that the accident remains under investigation.
