Spartanburg Public Safety officers say they arrested a suspect within minutes following a reported bank robbery Monday morning.
The First Citizens Bank branch at 1894 East Main Street was robbed after 10 a.m.
Officials received a tip that the suspect was driving a black Crown Victoria and soon spotted the car.
SPS Captain Art Littlejohn says they arrested 51-year-old Retinal Lee Lyles at Fairview and Glendalyn Avenues after a short chase.
Lyles is charged with bank robbery. Officials say he didn't have a weapon or a note.
Schools in the area were briefly placed on lockdown, but that order has been lifted.
No injuries were reported.
Lyles is being held at the Spartanburg County Detention Center.
Spartanburg Public Safety claimed on their Facebook page that the arrest was made five minutes after the robbery and credited the 911 operator.
