The Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office need the public's help to crack a cold case where a preacher was murdered ten years ago.
On Feb. 6, 2002, Perry Posey was shot and killed in the parking lot of an old country store off exit 87 on Interstate 85. His killer was never caught, and no motive has been established.
Posey was the pastor of Shady Grove Baptist Church in Cherokee County, and his case is one of ten cold cases the sheriff's office is trying to rejuvenate.
On Monday, investigators, along with the sheriff, returned to the site of where Posey died to hand out fliers and ask the public for tips.
The sheriff is also sending off old evidence for re-examination to see if new forensic leads can be developed.
"We believe we can take some of that evidence and be able to submit it today and get different results, and so that's what we're clinging too," Sheriff Mueller said.
