A wife in shock--over the ordeal her husband is accused of being involved in.
It was this past Tuesday when deputies say Dunyell Gordon walked into a Greenville Walmart on a suicide mission. Armed with two butcher knives--threatening someone was gonna die.
It ended when deputies were forced to shoot him after they say he lunged at them, and threw a knife at a deputy.
Gordon's wife, says he is a loving husband, and father to two children.
An Iraq war vet... who just went off the deep end.
Rita Gordon sat down with News Channel 7's Jonathan Carlson for an exclusive interview--pleading for forgiveness for her husband's actions.
----------------------
"I didn't expect this," she said through tears, reflecting on the dramatic and disturbing chain of events from Tuesday.
"He's not a monster," she continues.
"He's not a criminal. He is not a menace. He needed help--and he was crying for help."
She says she does not condone what he did.
She says Gordon was diagnosed with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, after serving in the Iraq war.
"He was a staff sergeant," she says.
And she says that may have triggered the alleged rampage.
But she too--is at a loss.
"I have no clue why he did it," she says. "When I say I had absolutely no clue--I had no clue."
She says she learned about the incident from the news. And saw his jacket on television, laying in the parking lot--and that was the first clue--it was her husband.
There were witness reports that Gordon was telling people in the Walmart he was upset over veterans benefits.
The VA confirmed to us, his benefits were not cut.
And his wife says--he never told her of any problems with the VA either.
In fact she says---the VA in Greenville was treating him for his PTSD.
She wants people to know her husband was a good soldier.
She showed us a book filled with awards from his service overseas.
Now, that once proud warrior, is facing Attempted Murder charges--and recovering in a hospital bed--his wife cant visit.
"I cant talk to him at all. Nobody can see him. Not his daughters--his family--he is just sittin' there by himself."
He isn't totally alone. He is being watched by deputies around the clock.
We asked Mrs. Gordon what she would say to her husband if she could speak to him.
The question brings her to tears.
"{I would say} that i love him. And he's my husband---through sickness and health."
She continued, "He's sick. And I'm gonna stick with him all the way."

Rita Gordon told us although there were no warning signs her husband would do what he did, he was acting a little strange over the weekend. And complained of hearing things in his head.
Gordon says her husband was seeing a doctor at the VA hospital in Greenville and was prescribed medication.
Its unclear if he was taking the medication Tuesday.
