Greenville County Sheriff’s deputies are investigating a pair of armed robberies at two convenience stores less than two miles apart Thursday night.
The first robbery happened around 8 p.m. at the Citgo convenience store at 2020 North Pleasantburg Drive. According to Lt. Tim Ridgeway of the Sheriff’s Office, a black male entered the business armed with a handgun. The man pointed the gun at the clerk, but the clerk managed to lock herself in a back office.
The man was unable to access the cash register, but took a few items and left the scene on foot toward a nearby apartment complex. Ridgeway said that nobody was injured during the robbery.
The second armed robbery happened around 9 p.m. at The Garden Spot at 3 Altamont Road, near State Park Road.
Ridgeway said that the suspect walked into the convenience store and presented a gun and robbed the cashiers. The suspect took an unknown amount of money and fled on foot. No shots were fired and nobody was injured.
Ridgeway said that they believe both robberies have been committed by the same man. Deputies are searching the area for the suspect.
The man is described as being in his 20's and was wearing a blue and red bandana, a black hoodie and tan pants.
Ridgeway says the robbery at the Citgo marks the third time that the convenience store has been robbed in the past three weeks.
