The Greenville County Sheriff's office is on the hunt for an Armed Robber. February 9th Deputies say the same man robbed a Citgo on North Pleasantburg Drive. Then an hour later he targeted the Gardenspot on Altamont
Patrick Grady was working when Deputies say an armed man entered the Citgo. Grady says his first instinct was to lock himself in the managers office where he knew the armed robber couldn't get to him. "Knowing someone is threatening to take your life for whatever reason is kind of nerve wracking," Grady said. An hour after Grady's encounter with the robber, deputies say the same man robbed Gardenspot, a convenience store on Altamont in Greenville. Surveillance photos show the robber this time pointing his gun at a clerk.. "Hopefully we can catch this individual before he causes serious injury to someone," Jennings Autrey with the Greenville County Sheriffs Office said. To help catch the armed robber deputies are being told during their shifts to routinely stop and check in with the local convenient stores. "Check on the clerks make sure they haven't seen anything suspicious at night and encourage them to call us if they do see somebody suspicious so we can get somebody in the area to just have that extra presence," Autrey said. Deputies say stores should also be taking steps to protect themselves. Citgo, which has been robbed three times in the past three weeks, now locks the doors at 8pm and after that all transactions are done through a bulletproof window. Deputies say their best bet to catch this guy is if clerks and customers remain observant. "If you see a car tucked back into an alley or next to a dumpster , somebody just sitting watching the activity go on call us we will get somebody out there and maybe we can prevent a robbery from happening," Autrey said. But until deputies put this man behind bars convenient store clerks say they will remain on edge hoping their store won't be the next target. If you have any information about the robberies you are asked to call CRIMESTOPPERS.
