Russel Geisller is headed to prison for 10 years for robbing an employee of the Celtic Tavern in December 2010.
A judge sentenced Geisller to 20 years, suspended to 10, followed by 4 years probation.
According to court documents, Geisller pleaded guilty to armed robbery, kidnapping, possessing a weapon during a violent crime and assault and battery.
Evidence presented at court showed Geisller grabbed a machete and went into the Celtic Tavern, on Asheville Highway in Greenville, Christmas Eve in 2010. Geisller then held the machete to the victim's throat and forced the person into the bathroom, then later made him or her clean out the register. Investigators say Geisller also stole a lockbox and several bottles of alcohol.
Officers were able to track Geisller down, by the prints he left at the scene, and the getaway car he drove.
