Renewable Water Resources says West Georgia Road will be closed again Saturday morning for continued repairs on a sewer line break that happened earlier this week.

Officials say the road will be closed to traffic until 5 p.m. Sunday when repairs are expected to be done.

The road was closed earlier this week for initial repairs and then re-opened to allow work-week traffic to flow through the area.

The Department of Transportation plans to have West Georgia Road open again Thursday afternoon in Greenville County following a sewer line break.

Renewable Water Resources says SCDOT closed West Georgia Road in the Fork Shoals Road area Thursday to get the repair work done faster.

Ray Ovin says RWR workers should have work completed by noon, but SCDOT crews will have to repave the road in time for the afternoon rush hour.

The main line rupture was discovered by workers Wednesday. It’s the line that runs from Perry Correctional to the main RWR plant.

One lane of the road was closed for work before the decision was made to shut down the road entirely.

Ovin says drivers in the area – including those heading to the Greenville Technical college campus there – will need to find another way around the road work.

The sewer line that ruptured was scheduled to be repaired next year.
