Clemson Mayor Larry Abernathy passed away on Saturday afternoon.
Rick Cotton the Clemson city administrator says Abernathy died at Greenville Memorial Hospital. Abernathy suffered with health issues. Pickens County coroner Kandy Kelly says he died of natural causes.
Robinson Funeral Home is handling funeral arrangements.
Memorial services will be 2 PM, Thursday at First Baptist Church of Clemson, 397 College Avenue in Clemson. The family will receive friends following the service at the church.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to University Lutheran Church, 111 Sloan Street, Clemson, SC 29631, Clemson Community Care, P.O. Box 271, Clemson, SC 29633 or Clemson Free Clinic, P.O. Box 491, Clemson, SC 29633.
Abernathy served as mayor of Clemson for 32 years.
