A judge has sentenced an Inman man to 40 years in prison in a shooting that killed one man and wounded a woman.
Prosecutors said 23-year-old Charvus Nesbitt submitted an Alford plea Monday to murder, attempted murder and other charges, which is a plea where he does not admit guilt but concedes there is enough evidence for a conviction.
Authorities say Nesbitt was trying to rob someone in a Spartanburg mobile home when he shot 27-year-old Daniel Landrum and 34-year-old Jermeka Rookard. Landrum died, while Rookard survived a gunshot wound to the neck.
Investigators say small children were in the home and went for help after the shooting.
Nesbitt will have to serve every day of his 40-year sentence.
