A man from Greenville pled guilty to criminal domestic violence high and aggravated nature.
Thirteenth Circuit Solicitor Walt Wilkins said that Calvin Ricky Redding, 30, of Greenville, pled guilty on Monday. Judge Carmen Mullen sentenced to five years in prison, suspended upon the service of 141 days time-served, followed by four years probation.
Wilkins said that evidence presented at the hearing established that on November 10, 2009, Redding became involved in an argument with Christie Powers, the mother of his children, and he struck her in the face and ears until she became unconscious. When she awoke, Assistant Solicitor Ryan Holloway said that Redding would not allow Powers to seek treatment. A few hours later, after Redding had left the residence, Powers was able to seek treatment at a nearby hospital.
Powers suffered a ruptured eardrum, as well as bruising to her arms and nose.
Redding also pled guilty to a separate count of strong arm robbery and received a concurrent sentence. He will remain incarcerated at the Greenville County Detention Center until bed space becomes available at a inpatient substance abuse treatment.
