Asheville Police officials say the driver of the tractor trailer involved in a weekend crash has died.
Herman Glenn Wooten of Clayton, NC passed away overnight at Mission Hospital.

The Ashville PD is investigating a tractor trailer running off the road on I-40 East near mile marker 47.
The driver was trapped inside the cab. Fire personnel worked for over 3 hrs to extricate the driver from the mangled wreckage of the truck. Once the driver was freed from the cab he was transported to Mission Hospital.
The driver is listed in serious condition. It is unknown at this time what caused the truck to run off the road. Asheville Police Department is the primary investigators on this collision. All lanes of I-40 are now back open. The investigation remains on-going.
