A Judge sentenced Russell Wilson to 10 years in prison, after he admitted to hurting a child.
Wilson pleaded guilty Tuesday to unlawful conduct toward a child. The judge sentenced Wilson to the maximum sentence possible under state law.
A Z.L. Madden Elementary school employee contacted police after noticing a series of suspicious looking injuries on the 5-year-old student. The child had a badly swollen right eye that raised the initial concern. Teachers found bruises all over the child’s body when he came to school weeks later complaining of a “sore bottom.”
The child told school officials that Wilson was responsible for the injuries. The child also said Wilson was mean to him during a forensic examination at the Children’s Advocacy Center. The child described how Wilson punched him in the chest and back.
“Nobody should have to endure what this brave victim did,” Assistant Solicitor Tony Leibert said. “I’m pleased that Judge Hyman recognized the gravity of the situation and sentenced the defendant accordingly.”
Wilson admitted to spanking the child with a bamboo back scratcher when he was questioned by police.
Wilson’s prior criminal record consisted of two drug convictions out of the state of Pennsylvania.
