Police Still Looking For Forest City Bank Robbers

Update Feb. 19, 2012

Early Sunday morning Forest City investigators received a warrant for arrest for robbery with a dangerous weapon for Christopher Michael Calhoun and his wife Amber Nichole Calhoun. An arrest warrant has been issued for Amber Calhoun for conspiracy to commit a robbery with a dangerous weapon.

The two are believed to be traveling in a dark colored Dodge Dakota pickup truck. Authorities believe the Calhoun’s have left the area and may be in Burke County.

Investigators arrested Dylan Jacob Murray and Kristin Leigh Lewis are charged with conspiracy to commit a robbery with a dangerous weapon and were arrested while investigators were serving search warrants in connection with this case on Pilgrim Road, Ellenboro,

NC. Murray and Lewis received $200,000 secured bonds and were placed in custody of Rutherford County Jail.

Investigators are working to track down leads to locate Christopher Michael Calhoun and Amber Nichole Calhoun. Update Feb. 18, 2012

Forest City Police Department responded to a call Friday afternoon for a possible bomb inside of Fifth Third Bank in Forest City, NC.

Officials say the bank was robbed by an armed male with a goatee who was dressed in dark colors.

The man presented the teller with a note and an object he indicated was a bomb. The suspect then collected an unknown amount of money from the teller and left the bank on foot. The suspect may have then left the area in a dark colored pickup truck.

After the suspect left the scene, Fifth Third Bank evacuated the building and locked their doors to keep employees and customers out of harm’s way. FCPD, with the help of Gastonia Police Department's Bomb squad and ATF were able to conclude it was not an explosive while preserving it for evidence in the robbery. 

Investigators are actively working leads in the case. Forest City police are investigating an armed robbery at Fifth Third Bank on West Main Street.

Police say a white male came into the bank around 2:15 p.m. and handed a note to the teller and put a device on the counter saying it was a bomb.

Witnesses say he got away with money and left on foot. Police say the suspect may have left the area in a dark colored pickup truck.

The suspect is described as having a goatee and wearing a dark colored jacket and dark colored toboggan.
