Anderson County Council passed a pair of incentive packages Tuesday night that could help entice Michelin to build a pair of projects within the county.
Anderson County Council Chairman Tom Allen told 7 On Your Side that the incentive packages vary on the number of jobs and levels of investments that Michelin may bring to the county, if the company decided to build the projects. Michelin already has a plant in Anderson County and is considering the area as a potential location for two projects, also known as "Project Cougar" that would carry a minimum investment of $550 million and 125 manufacturing jobs.
Michelin has yet to decide on whether they will build the projects.
In other news, Allen said that Anderson County Council members voted to approve a resolution that allows them to enter into contract discussions with Anderson University to establish a criminal justice center in downtown Anderson.
