A Rutherford County Sheriff's Office Sergeant is on administrative leave following a domestic violence call at his home.

Sheriff Chris Francis says Jeff Hamrick, 37, is not charged with any crime at this point, but is the focus of an investigation.

The incident report says deputies were called to Hamrick's home in Mooresboro on Friday afternoon in reference to a domestic disturbance.

Those deputies found his 24-year-old girlfriend who had called 911 requesting assistance.

Hamrick was not at the home when deputies arrived.

“Sergeant Hamrick is on administrative leave pending criminal and administrative investigations,” said Sheriff Francis in a written release.

A formal request has been sent to the District Attorney’s Office for assistance from the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigations reference looking into this case.
