On Monday in Greenwood, Congressman Duncan will be presenting a medal to Vietnam veteran Sergeant James Henderson Jr. of Ninety Six.
Sergeant Henderson never received his metals during his military career. After working with the Defense Department, they were able to confirm that Sergeant Henderson rightfully earned a Purple Heart, an Army Commendation Medal, an Army Good Conduct Medal, a Vietnam Service Medal with three bronze service stars, a Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross with Palm Unit Citation, and the Republic of Vietnam Civil Actions Honor Medal First Class Unit Citation.
On Monday afternoon Henderson will officially get his award at the old Greenwood County Library.
The ceremony will begin at 2 p.m. and will be attended by local veterans in the community.
