Wednesday Update

SAATI Americas Corporation officially announced plans to have a distribution center in Greenville County Wednesday morning.

The company plans to generate more than 80 new jobs in the next few years.

SAATI has purchased and will immediately renovate the vacant Kemet Electronics plant on Fairview Street Extension in Fountain Inn

No details on hiring for those jobs were released with Wednesday’s written announcement.

Reporting by Fred Cunningham

SAATI American Corp. – maker of composite materials – will take over the old Kemet facility in Fountain Inn, bringing about 100 jobs to Greenville County, according to county councilman Butch Kirven.

The composite materials produced by the company are used in items like body armor and race car bodies.

At Tuesday's county council meeting, Kirven said the third and final reading of an agreement to announce the company’s arrival will be heard.

The jobs mostly consist of management and highly-skilled laborers, Kirven said.

An official announcement will be made Wednesday.
