i remember when i first moved to spartanburg sc, it was in march of 2002 right after my mom past away, i moved here to be close to my sister because she has been here for 15 yrs. i have struggled alot but my daughter and i, our first christmas here we were very broke and i had nothing to give to her that yr, so that night when she went to sleep i brought an old dead tree in a pot into the house and decorated it with lights and ornaments and decorated the whole inside of the living room it was lit up as pretty as i could. My daughter was 9 yrs old. when she woke up on christmas morning she saw it and woke me up and said to me "oh mommy it is beautiful, i love it thank you so much. We dont need gifts under the tree as long as we have each other that makes me happy, i love you so much". well that was our christmas that yr.
I have had a very hard time in the last 2 1/2 yrs. i have worked all my life up until 2008 when i started falling apart physically i have had 3 surgury's since then and have not been able to work due to my health . my am generally a very happy person but i find it hard to smile because my teeth are breaking and my smile is very ugly these days, I have filed for disability when i fisrt started having health trouble, which is still pending. Now with no income and being on all kinds of medications. I have had friends, very good friends that have helped me get my bills paid, that know my conditions. This yr for christmas now my daughter is 17 yrs old and got her first job and she has told me she is playing santa this yr, she dont work many hrs and only gets minimum wages and every check she gets she gets her friends to take her shopping and i have told her the only thing i want is that we have each other just like always. I cant ask her for help i know what having your first job is like and she is spending her money on everyone but herself. I am in a very difficult situation and i dont want to ask my friends for help again. All i want is to be lead to other soures for help me, just to help me get my electric bill paid. please some one lead me to a source that will help me keep the electric paid so we are not cold. I use a kerosene heater for heat in this old house and it dont heat the whole house it stays any where from 55 to 65 degrees in my home i am ok with that but dont want to be with out electric living in the dark with no hot water and no way to cook. please someone give me some idea's as to where to go to keep electric on.
