Federal Agents Seize Computers From Councilman’s Home

Federal agents raided the home of Greenville County Councilman Tony Trout on Tuesday night by seizing computers from his home for the second time.

Trout, who lost his bid for re-election in Tuesday night’s Republican primary to Joe Baldwin, has been under investigation into potential criminal activity involving alleged improper communication between him and former grand jury foreman David Smith. The allegations stem from alleged communications between the two about Greenville County’s road program, which Trout alleged was misusing taxpayer money.

Trout says that agents seized computers from his cabinets and took hard drives. Smith has also had computers seized from his home by State Law Enforcement Division agents.
