Cigarette Sparks Fire; North Carolina Woman Dies
CANDLER, N.C. (AP) - Authorities say a woman has died after a
cigarette ignited a fire in her Candler home.
Asheville-Buncombe Arson Task Force director Buddy Thompson told
the Asheville Citizen-Times that firefighters found the woman’s
body on a sofa after putting out the blaze Friday morning.
Thompson wouldn’t release the woman’s name, saying her family
had not been notified, but he said all indications are the victim
lived in the home.
Thompson says someone driving by the house reported the fire.
Firefighters did rescue three dogs from the burning home.
