Go Green With New Bulbs
Go Green With Lightbulbs
New CFL lightbulbs will save you money. It’s a strange looking squiggly light bulb that is becoming more common in our homes.
“We’ve bought some and tried to replace them. We haven’t gotten all of them replaced yet, but as they go out we’re putting the better ones in,” explains Melissa Drummond.
The Drummond family of Woodruff was already in the process of going green before they won the “Help My House” contest. They did it by changing their light bulbs.
“CFL bulbs save money, they save energy. CFL bulbs last 5 to 7 years.”
Josh Crotzer of Broad River Electric is one of several people helping the nearly 50 year old house go green.
“Over that period of time it could save a home 30 dollars per bulb. That might not seem like a lot, but if you are talking about 10-15 bulbs in your home, that adds up.”
These new bulbs cost a little more, but save you money in the long run by reducing your energy costs.
“It’s an investment and there is definitely a quick return on your investment. You can get them anywhere,” says Crotzer.
He says you don’t have to spend a lot of money to make your house more energy efficient.
“Even though were in sort of a mild weather climate, energy efficiency has a big impact.”
