A public hearing is scheduled Tuesday night on the proposed budget for Greenville County Schools. The spending plan does rely on getting over $19 million dollars in federal stimulus money, but $11.4 million dollars must still be cut. To balance the budget, the district will add one student to class sizes.
They also plan to cut an unknown number of teaching positions and freeze or eliminate nine support jobs in addition to 12 that are already gone.
Tuesday night’s public hearing starts at 6:30 p.m. at the J. Floyd Hall Administrative Center in Greenville County. A third reading on the proposed budget is set for June 8th.
