Clemson University’s Board of Trustees met in Columbia Thursday and approved an increase in tuition. In-state students will see a 4.5% raise, which amounts to $234 per semester. Out-of-state students will see a 7.5% raise, which amounts to $878 per semester.
In May, the college announced it expects to cut jobs next year to deal with a potential $41 million dollar budget shortfall. School president James Barker told administrative and support faculty that some temporary or contract employees will not be rehired next year.
Last week, the University of South Carolina announced its fall tuition is going up 3.6%, which is the lowest increase in eight years.
